Nabi Saleh rise up in support of the prisoners on hunger strike. 10 injuried by rubber coated bullets

The Israeli occupation forces suppressed the Nabi Saleh weekly march against occupation and settlements. The march which was launched this Friday from the Martyrs’ Square, center of the village, with the participation of many activists from the Popular Resistance and foreign peace activists. The march expressed its support to the prisoners under hunger strike against the abuse of the Israeli occupation and the abuse they receive. The Popular Resistance Comitee of Nabi Saleh affirms that our people won’t accept anything less than freedom of all our brave prisoners. Our slogans were not only in support to our prisoners but also to support our national unity. The march was stroke and stoped before reaching the entrance of the Nabi Saleh village by dozens of tear gas canisters and rubber coated bullets, without any consider to all the children and women in the march. Many youngesters of the village angried by the strong reaction of the Israeli forces started to throw stones in opposing to the land aggression. Dozens were the people injured by rubber coated bullets, including on volunteer from the medical assistance.

Today’s demonstration in Nabi Saleh marched in solidarity with Palestinian political prisoners who are currently on hunger strike. Activists report that Israeli Occupation Forces fired teargas and rubber coated steel bullets, often directly at people, injuring many. Amongst those injured were a paramedic who was shot in the leg and Manal Tamimi who was hit in the leg and arm. Despite the many injuries, none of the injured required hospitalisation.

 

 

 

Nabi Saleh marks International Worker’s Day (May Day); Israeli occupation forces injure 5 with rubber coated steel bullets

At least 5 people were injured by rubber coated steel bullets fired by Israeli occupation forces during today’s demonstration in Nabi Saleh.  The IOF also fired teargas and rubber coated bullets directly unarmed protesters, including women, children and elderly protesters. Israeli Occupation Forces declared Nabi Saleh a closed military zone and attempted to prevent international and Israeli activists from reaching the village.  The demonstration marked International Worker’s Day.

 

Video: Sometimes I’m Afraid, Sometimes I Hit – the children of Nabi Saleh speakout

A short film featuring the children of Nabi Saleh speaking about Israel’s occupation and how they cope with the constant state of violence around them, as they see their parents being arrested and family members being killed, and if and when they see some hope in their situation.

The film is made by political activist and Israeli conscientious objector Yuval Auron, who was jailed in 2009 and spent a month and a half in a military prison after refusing to enlist to the army. Yuval has been participating in the demonstrations in Nabi Saleh for the last few years and recently made a short video about the village. Yuval’s film was a finalist in the Euromed Audiovisual competition.

Mu’ath Mash’al, a Palestinian journalist, sustained an injury from a rubber bullet aimed directly at him. He received emergency treatment in the field and was then taken to a Ramallah hospital.

An IOF commander instructs soldiers to aim and shoot directly at a group of journalists even though their flak vests clearly identified them as members of the press.

 

Israeli Occupation Forces shoot Palestinian photo-journalist in leg with rubber bullets

At today’s demonstration in Nabi Saleh, Israeli occupation forces have shot Palestinian photo-journalist Maath Musleh from few metres range with 9 steel coated rubber bullets. Israeli occupation forces had been blocking gate at the front of the village preventing the evacuation of Musleh. Activists reported that the IOF are firing stun grenades at the ambulance.  Maath has now been evacuated to hospital in Ramallah.
